With its economic reforms, pro-business policies and integration into regional and global markets, Vietnam has created huge opportunities for Canadian businesses. Vietnam had a positive GDP growth rate of 2.58%, a trade surplus of 20 billion USD and FDI of 28.5 billion USD last year. Despite COVID-19, Vietnam expects this year a growth of about 6%, mostly from manufacturing sector. Vietnam is very well integrated into world economy with 15 FTAs (including big trade blocs such as ASEAN, EU, CPTPP and RCEP). Canadian companies that are interested in entering Vietnam’s market can benefit from the facilities under such agreements to export. With a population of 97 million, Vietnam’s market is very attractive with a strong and rising middle class. Vietnam imports many important products from Canada such as forest, pharmaceutical, electronics, chemicals, oil and gas.
